The use utf8 pragma tells the Perl parser to allow UTF-8 in the program text in the current lexical scope. This also means that you can now use literal Unicode characters as part of strings, variable names, and regular expressions. utf8::all goes further. WWW: https://metacpan.org/release/utf8-all
