You should run usbmuxd, and after plugging in your iGadget, run
ifuse -o allow_other /mnt/ipod
- after it, you can reach it's files, and
use eg. gtkpod to add/delete musics/pictures to it.

To mount your iGadget you first need to launch usbmuxd; see...
$ usbmuxd --help
...for help. Then, plug in your device and run iFuse:
# ifuse -o allow_other /mnt/ipod
After that, you'll be able to reach its files and use, e.g., gtkpod to
add/delete music/pictures.
